Ground and Radio Examinations

Aircraft Radio

The course for a JAR-PPL involves seven ground examinations. These examinations are all flying related and most of the knowledge you gain will be used in the air. The examinations are all set by the Civil Aviation Authority and are in the following subjects:

Air Law & Operational Procedures
Meteorology
Navigation
Flight Performance and Planning
Aircraft General Knowledge and Principles of Flight
Human Performance and Limitations
Communications

These exams are nothing to worry about, with a little time and thought applied to each subject they are all very passable! They can all be taken at the School at a time that suits you, and we have books which can be purchased on each subject. There is always an instructor on hand to answer any questions which you may have and we can also offer ground tuition on a one to one basis if you wish. Alternatively, at Doncaster Sheffield Flying School we offer evening ground school classes with experienced lecturers to guide you through the syllabus. http://www.dsflyingschool.com/ground-school

Towards the end of the course, you will take an oral radio examination, again we can arrange this with the examiner for a time that suits you.
